Land of the Fair

Ok, last night was one of the most fun adventures I've ever had!! Jessyca, Arlene, and I went to the Land of the Fair.
Arlene, thank you for calling me on to your quest...you are so awesome!!
Jessyca, thanks for always being up for last minute undertakings!!
We didn't arrive until about 6pm that night, so we had about 4 hours to kill per Arlenes last day of finals the following morning.
One crazy ride, a platter of Australian potatoes, and the Ferris Wheel later we three Charlies Angels, or so we were called by the Carnie behind the booth, were on a quest to find the coveted deep fried oreo cookies.
Our quest was interupted by "Shytown Mike". We were offered a free ride on the most giant swing I have ever seen if we could guess the number between 1 and 10 written on his hand. Jessyca; 7, Jenni; 3, Arlene; 5, Jessyca;4...we never guessed to correct number. But apparently we were good looking enough to warrent a free ride anyway. The procession then followed of being harnessed and flirted with by the ride opporators. Jessyca and I rock-paper-scissors for the rip cord, and without really thinking through what it was for. Everytime we thought they were done hoisting us up the 13 stories high ride, we were wrong. Half way up I realized that the rip cord in my hand meant that I had to release us at the top. It's about then that I started freaking out. With my eyes locked on to "'just do it' sunglasses Travis" until he gave me the signal all the while chanting "I can't do this, I can't do this" under my breath. 3-2-1 and I pulled the cord and down we began to fall. The wire didn't reach it's tension point until about 1/3 of the way down. Needless to say the three of us were screaming pretty loud. We drew a crowd. After the initial shock it was an amazing feeling flying through the air like that.
Of corse the carnie guys didn't end it there. They were "fixing" a line while tickling Jessyca's feet, asking me to dinner, and all out flirting when suddenly we realized that the stairs were gone again and we were being hoisted up a second time. This time Jessy got the rip cord. And it began all over again.
My brother has this theory about food, "free" and "hungry" are the best spices ever. I think "free" translates just as easily to experience as well. I don't know that if we had paid to go on this ride if it would have been as amazing.
Finally after excusing my way out of a dinner date with "Shytown Mike" we resumed our quest for the deep fried oreo cookie.
I know they exist because I tasted one once at Spirit West Coast only weeks before. But our quest was doomed to failure before it bagan since apparently I had eaten the last remaining deep fried oreo cookie in the Land of the Fair. We settled for a churro and a cinnamonroll instead.
The quest then ended we began the journey back and arrived home the proverbial year-and-a-day later. And the only proof of our experience found on the pages of this book:

The quest may begin again however...lets say..on June 29th?...

kelvin/thermodynamics

So I had this new thought the other day about the whole creation vs evolution thing.

Brent was talking about the temperature measurement of kelvin. (I know, we're nerds):

The kelvin (K) temperature scale is an extension of the degree Celsius scale down to absolute zero, a hypothetical temperature characterized by a complete absence of heat energy.

And then I started thinking about the first law of thermodynamics:

Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed. The total amount of energy and matter in the Universe remains constant, merely changing from one form to another.

I am by no means versed enough to argue any more inteligently on this subject than this. I wonder where the first form of energy came from. This is a kind of "which came first the chicken or the egg" question. In my understanding evolution requires energy, as does everything else in this 'verse. Where do people think this initial energy comes from? Then why is it so different to believe that there is a creator that made everything and gave it life (energy)? It seems like the same level of faith to me either way.
