BBC/Brothers By Choice: Jason Mraz~Carlos Olmeda~Toca Rivera
Shannon Joi Hammand this one's for you!!
Last night Shannon and I went to a concert. It took us about two minutes to decide to go because hey, it's Jason Mraz. Rock On!!! (I know, I'm lame)
So after putting on the second pair of shoes that would kill my feet that day we ran out the door to her house so she could change clothes too. This is also where Ruby, the Hammond Pug, decided to chew my shoes stilleto heal and my hair. And then off to Normal Hieghts.
After first turning the wrong way on Adams (St, I think), stopping at the ATM (where the first one didn't like my card), then going back the correct direction, passing the club, turning back arround again, dropping Shannon off to wait in the insanely long line, finding a parking spot in front of someone's house down the next street, and then walking to find her in line with those really cute shes that were killing my feet, we preceeded to wait in line...for 1 1/2 hours.
Only then to pay $15 for standing room only in a wide hallway looking club packed with 200+ people. We found a spot next to the filmographer. (no really, it was by accident) My shoes imediately came off and went into my purse. (I know, I love that purse, I feel like Mary Poppins, everything fits in there!)
Now we're all excited. They test the lights and then everything seems ready for the show....and then a 'belly dancer' enters stage left and poses center stage. Shannon and I just look at eachother..what? Of course I had to tell Shannon what was happening becuase the cute little girl is only 5'2. So, forty minutes later these three dancers finish their set. (And by the way, one of the girls was liking watching your friends mom when you were in middle school trying to be and thinking she's accomplishing being sexy~it was really kinda sad)
Then finally Carlos Olmeda took the stage. Now he was awesome, and funny, and I want his cd!! His brother is Toco Rivera. He's a prucussionist. He plays with Jason alot too. They are all amazing!!!

Then another break. Still waiting for the man of the hour. And finally there he was....Jason Mraz. It was awesome. By this time Shannon and I both had spots where we could see. Jason is this little skinny musician guy, somewhat pleasing to the eye, but not drop dead gorgeous...
that is until you start watching him play and sing. Shannon and I decided that he kept getting hotter and hotter as the night progressed.
Jason is an amazing musician. Ben told me about him before he got really big not too many years ago. He had seen him at some coffee shop one night while trying to study. Ben bought the cd's and we listened to them alot, and then one day I was flipping through the channels and saw a Mraz music video on MTV (or VH1 or something).
I don't think that I know anybody who can sing like he can. I think only Ben, maybe Nick, oh, and definatley my "uncle in law" Glen can match him for talking speed, but I don't think those boys can sing that fast too. Jason can rival any teenage girl on that one. But you never think to compare him to one as he's performing. He's an artist, versed in his medium, guitar and vocals. And smart too. The kind of smart that you can tell after hearing him talk for a few minutes about nothing in particular. Yea.....he's great.
Bottom line...we had alot of fun!! And Jason is more than just a pop artist. (but I don't think he even rightly fits into that catagory at all)
Things I learned last night:
1. Don't wear shoes that aren't broken in yet to a standing room only concert.
2. People can be flat out rude at concerts...so don't be affraid to take your spot back!
*I will try to post some pics and short videos that I took last night with my digital camera, Thanks Mom!!!
