I've been away...

I meant to let you all know that I am at a speech tournament this weekend. So far it has been an interesting experience. More to come...

Mr.A-Z

Ok, so I suppose that I like Jason Mraz. . .
This was the second concert I have been to this year! It was amazing and I will post more about the happenings later, but now, it's off to school.

A Thank You (and a possible opps)

Thanks you everyone that went out to breakfast after church on Sunday; Robert, Irina, Jose, Elizabeth, and Johnny! I had a blast, I need more of that kind of laid back, enjoying eachothers company, christian interaction!

On another note...I may have just made a mistake. I hope not though. I can only wait and see I guess. *sigh* I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to say too much right now. Thanks for listening. . .

A Saturday; as they should be

Today was a good day;
*Dr's appointment in the morning. Pretty easy~conversation, short examination, give up some of my life blood for testing~it took all of 20 minutes.
*Drive back to the Dennis's for breakfast and hang out time. Jessyca taught me how to play the bass, so I did that for the very first time.
*And then a drive to the OC for BBQ with Auntie Lanei and company. The Holland children are histerical. Big brother Alex wrestling with his little sisters, lil Trin dancing to every song that played and Harley growing up as fast as ever...
*Did you know that Fat Albert was actually a decent kids movie. Seriously, Jess and I enjoyed watching it, I was totally surprised.
*Then back home to watch Batman Begins. Why oh why can't I have my own personal Bruce Wayne?

Odd Objects In Unconventional Places

Today was a strange day. I spent my morning at the hospital getting follow up scans done. Laying there for about an hour while this machine slowly scans you up and down is such an exciting adventure... And then Josh called and we went to visit a friends mom, who I just found out had a stroke this year and is now home bound. It was good to see her and see that she is doing well. Mrs. Thrasher almost started crying at one point and it was all I could do not join with her. It's amazing how 30 minutes of your own time can touch someone elses life. It's amazing how practicle ministry can really be. I pray that God never lets me forget that. My parents and I went to dinner at a local italian restaurant. Mom's phone kept ringing making conversation difficult. And then Dad took food off mine and Mom's plate without asking which made the rest of dinner, well, interesting. I hope my future husband and I don't fight over such menial (but symbolicly important) actions. Then I went to go visit Jessyca. I haven't spent much time with her lately and I was missing her. We had fun just chillaxin'. Then we found the sponge in the strange place (see pic above). I mean really, what is a sponge doing sitting behind a pillar? The randomness of reality hit me. Life is full of odd objects it unconventional places.

The Amazing CD

I was driving myself back home from an afternoon at school (where I basically slept on my speech coaches couch for a few hours and then went to dinner with a couple of team members~sounds reminiscent of my Sr year of highschool) when one of my CD's flew out of the holder attached to the sunvisor, as they like to do when I take left hand turns a little too fast, but instead of falling down between the passenger seat and the door it stuck itself between the rubber guard and the window!...go Josh Groban go!!

Brent's Truck

Sooo, my brother is lame. I spent the entire day helping him get his truck out of impound. An entire day of driving from government buildings to office buildings, to impound lots, to mechanic's lobbies...it was a game of hurry up and wait in such and such a lobby or line or both. My brother better love me! J/K~I know he does. Well, we had been trying to spend more time together. I hope next time it will be without the whole family emergency over shadowing us, that and the spending of my money wasn't so fun either. Good thing he's worth it!

My Solution

So, Dad and I are talking about my moving into his office and sharing the space with him. Meaning my computor/study space and his office would all be in one room.
All of this is to help me from feeling suffocated in my bedroom that I have lived in since second grade, that's 17 years! (I just did the math.)

We've been dabating how to make the desk space work in that room. We also have a futon that needs to remain there for Mom's Lactation Consultant/breast pump business and for when family or friends come to stay.

I think I came up with a solution:

Laptop table "DAVE" from IKEA

...this just might work...

My Anti Mexico Experience

So I started my summer off with a week in TJ building a house for a family and "ended" it with a three day lock down in a hospital room. Here's the run down of the compare/contrast:

Mexico:
1- Shower once a day if it fits into your schedule and your bus gets back in time
2- Bathroom is a port-a-potty; don't put your toilet paper in the hole but the trash bag provided
3-No running water (except the hoses used to create the "showers")
4- Share a bungalow with 4-5 other girls and never go anywhere alone
5- Drink as much fluids as you can

Hospital:
1- Shower as many times in one day as you can
2- Flush the toilet 3x after every use
3- Run the water in the sink 3-5 minutes after every use
4- Everyone must maintain a 6' distance and few minutes visitation limit from me; seclusion
4- Drink as much fluids as you can

Soooo...yea...there's not much else to talk about. I spent the first day sitting around waiting for my room with Pastor Pat, Kathy Mc, Mom and Dad, then waiting in my room for the Doc and his Radiation Tech to arrive with the pill in a heavy-duty thick-metal suitcase. After receiving my instructions (see above) I was handed a small shot glass with a bluish-purple pill that the tech handed to me with purple latex gloved hands ("two by two hands of...'purple'?"). I was told to throw back the pill and chase it with some H2O. I was then properly radiated.

I spent the next two days in solitary confinement. I received a few phone calls and visitors throughout the two days. The first day wasn't so bad, I actually enjoyed the quiet, but by day two it was already old. Daytime television; not all that exciting, reading; made my eyes tired and sleepy, not much left to do after that.

I am very happy to be home now, to see Gatsby and be around people once again. I still have to maintain my distance for a few more days, so don't expect me at church service tomorrow, but at least I have people around me and human interaction.

Thank You: to the staff at the hospital, all my nurses and aids (especially Cory, he was my daytime aid all three days) you all were kind and took very good care of me, I appreciate it!!

FYI: There were some pretty cute looking EMT's running around on day one (didn't see any on my way out Friday) I might have to add them to the Firefighter fettish I have.
I'm not boy crazy, I swear! Ok, maybe a little...but, they are kinda...everywhere!

I told you his sit spin was amazing!

(I wish this pic would show up larger...)

I know you all want to hear about my stay at the hospital...it's all sooooo exciting...but I needed to post 'cause I just found out that my baby won So You Think You Can Dance. You know I pick the good ones, every time!!!! Well, only the ones on tv and film and totally unavailable to me. Where are the guys in real life that I can pick from? My fish bowl is getting slowly empty of available males (not that I pick good ones when it is full, but whatev).

GO Nick, I love you, call me sometime!

(I'm lame, I know, leave me alone.)

I'll be away...

Ok, all of you that read my blog...
I will be taking a short break from blogging per today is my last day before being locked down in a hospital room for 2-3 days and then I still have a few days of recovery after that. All is well and this is the very simple proceedure of swallowing a pill. But I will be slightly radio active for awhile...anyway, I will be getting my room number to those who live here in San Diego so that if you want to brave it you may come and visit me in my room.
Love to all!!!!!
